Knoll Heights Village is a design in intimate village living for low and moderate income senior citizens. The Sparta Ecumenical Council, a non-profit sponsor, financially assisted by the New Jersey Housing Finance Agency, is responsible for developing the project. Subsidized rents for those who qualify are available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Section 8 program.

The Village is located on a 15 acre site which affords the 38 colonial, frame buildings with settings that provide privacy as well as a sense of community. The one-story, home-like buildings cluster around attractively landscaped courts and house 114 one-bedroom, 6 two-bedroom and 30 efficiency units. All apartments have special features to make life safe and comfortable for older people. Sixteen units have added conveniences to make living comfortable for the handicapped.

A Community Center with areas for clinics, social gatherings, informational sessions and just getting together is the 39th building in the Village.

Trapasso Drive, the main roadway for the Village, is entered through Knoll Road, off Route 517 in Sparta.
